Program Description:
Lusaka, Zambia (is located in the southern part of the central plateau of the Republic of Zambia. Lusaka is the country's largest city and capital. Zambia, a landlocked country located in southeast Africa, has a tropical climate with and average temperature of 68°F and two seasons - rainy from November to April, and dry from May to October. English is the official language of Lusaka, although there are 8 recognized regional languages.

Program Leaders: Hibajene Shandomo, Elementary Education & Reading and Wendy McLeish, Elementary Education & Reading

Enroll in 3-credit course to prepare for the experience - completed semester prior to travel (spring)
Teach and observe at local schools serving children who are living in poverty
Observe Zambian teaching models and practices for science, math, and social studies at Libala Basic School
Collaborate with students and faculty at the University of Zambia
Visit the women and children of the Chikumbuso Womens and Orphans Project
Develop lasting cross cultural professional relationships
Enjoy historical and cultural experiences in and around Lusaka
Enjoy excursions to Victoria Falls and Mukambi Safari Lodge in Kafue National Park
Blog about their experience while abroad
