Amsterdam 1

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is based in the city of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is the largest city in the Netherlands and a cosmopolitan city where 175 different nationalities live and work together and where the English language is largely spoken. Amsterdam's many canals add great beauty to the city, besides providing it with transportation routes. There are more than 50 canals and 500 bridges in the city. Amsterdam is known for its historical attractions, for its collections of great art, and for the distinctive color and flavor of its old sections, which have been so well preserved. The city is a hotbed of education and research in all conceivable areas: culture and society, trade, logistics, aviation, shipping, ICT, sport, healthcare, education and much more.

Your experience at AUAS will provide you a multicultural experience, allowing you to study with 45,000 other students from all over the world. Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences has the largest faculty of Business and Economics in the Netherlands.

Program Dates:

Students may study at The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences for one semester during the fall semester. The fall semester begins in September and ends in December. Students wishing to study in Amsterdam for the entire academic year may stay for the spring semester beginning in January and ending in June. Under special circumstances and with prior approval from the study abroad office, students may be able to study in Amsterdam for the spring semester only.

Housing and Orientation:

Housing Options: Student accommodation is located near Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and is arranged through the DUWO housing corporation. DUWO is a housing corporation offering short stay furnished accommodation to students for one to two semesters.

Room types include both private rooms with shared facilities and private rooms with private facilities.

DUWO Housing Corporation:

Orientation: Orientation will be held at Buffalo State prior to departure. Students will also attend orientation upon arrival in Amsterdam. Buffalo State orientation will cover what to expect in Amsterdam and orientation in Amsterdam will serve to acclimate students to their new environment.
Cost and Financial Aid:

Students currently receiving financial aid can use their aid for overseas study, and may, in some cases, have their awards increased. Students not currently receiving financial aid may be eligible. Contact the Financial Aid office in Moot Hall for more information.
